Trauma Healing Institute featured in new research

In 2024, two independent research papers published in Spirituality in Clinical Practice showed the efficacy of THI’s Healing the Wounds of Trauma program.

Healing the Wounds of Trauma Program

One study, which took place in Nigeria, found that healing group participants showed significantly less trauma symptoms and greater healing effects than those who did not participate in healing groups, and those improvements continued on after the group ended. The authors concluded that the Healing the Wounds of Trauma program is “effective in reducing trauma symptoms and improving coping and engagement with God, the Bible and the church.”

The Trauma Healing Institute-Impact Survey

THI also designed a new survey instrument — the Trauma Healing Institute-Impact Survey. It uses simple, easily translated words to help respondents communicate their trauma symptoms without needing to use psychological jargon. Researchers tested the survey with over 2,700 people in 26 countries, and found it to be a reliable way to assess trauma symptoms, spiritual or religious coping, and religious engagement.
